Chris Davies plays soprano saxophone for Mr. Wilson’s Second Liners.

In a career spanning over thirty years, Chris has toured nationally and internationally as musician, performer and musical director. Chris is a hidden gem on the Manchester music scene and is a generous and enthusiastic collaborator, working with dancers, filmmakers, installation artists, poets, and theatre makers.

As a founder member of seminal street band, Inner Sense Percussion, Chris and his colleagues were instrumental in introducing Brazil’s carnival music to UK audiences. Starting life on the streets of Manchester, Inner Sense Percussion went on to tour the world, performing across Europe, and in Morocco, Tunisia, Gaza and the West Bank, Singapore and Uzbekistan, enabled by support of the British Council.

Chris has composed, recorded and performed music for theatre collaborating with Kneehigh, M6, The Royal Exchange Theatre, Burnley Youth Theatre, Manchester Youth Theatre, Bolton Octagon, Proper Job, Peshkar, Chol, Baby Boo, Tower Theatre, London and with storytellers, Christine McMahon and Shonaleigh.

He has nurtured a special relationship with internationally acclaimed visual arts company, Horse and Bamboo Theatre. Chris made and performed music for their productions of The Legend of the Creaking FloorboardThe Girl Who Cut FlowersStorm in a Teacup, Botany Begins at Home, Early One Morning, The Nightingale, The Horse’s Tail’, and the award-winning In the Shadow of Trees. He has also been involved with several immersive, multi-sensory guided imagery projects for children with special needs.

More recently, Chris has worked in the outdoor arts sector with companies such as Whalley Range All Stars, Pif-Paf, Thingumajig Theatre and Lieux Public. Chris performed as a L’Esprit Du Vent (Wind Shepherd) in the iconic Harmonic Fields, a commissioned symphonic work for 500 wind instruments and a moving audience, in Cumbria, Dorset and Marseille.

In 2014, Chris was commissioned by the National Media Museum to compose an original new score for the groundbreaking animated film, The Adventures of Prince Achmed. He is currently touring this work.
