Phil Davies

Banjo with Mr. Wilson’s Second Liners.

Our Phil grew up on Anglesey, North Wales. He studied classical guitar throughout secondary school and had his first taste of touring with the Anglesey Guitar Ensemble, formative highlights included winning 1st prize (2 years running) in national guitar orchestra competition in London.

Phil, much to the envy of the entire team, is a Blue Peter Badge holder.

After cutting his teeth in rock/pop & function bands around North Wales during mid-late 90’s, Phil made the leap and moved to Manchester to study music & technology, ( but mostly to go to gigs every night.)

Here he became one third of electro pop outfit, Surround, and later on bass, synths and vocals was part of an electronic / remix collective project called Mix[AV]r. He has worked extensively as a session guitarist and bass player for various projects at Blueprint studios, SSR, 6DB, and Islington Mill.

Always a keen songwriter,  Phil’s wily, wicked lyrics have commanded audiences all over the country.  He has released series of accomplished singles, EP’s and albums;  tracks from which featured on radio shows across UK and abroad, as well as BBC sitcom soundtrack.  Festival performance highlights include Manchester Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Fringe and Sounds from the Other City.

When not making music, Phil is interested in technology, and is a very experienced freelance IT Consultant supporting small businesses and creatives.   He has also worked in events organisation and as an event technician. These are all skills which Mr Wilson’s has capitalised on during our recent digital projects.

Now a stalwart Mancunian, Phil happily resides in Levenshulme with his brilliant wife and daughters and is rewriting the rave banjo text book.
