Opal's Comet

Opal’s Comet will be travelling along the Rochdale Canal and the Calder and Hebble Navigation from Walsden, to the Brighouse Basin as part of CultureDale, Calderdale’s Year of Culture 2024. The journey will start on Wednesday 22nd May and end on Monday 27th May 2024. Please visit the Opal’s Comet project page for information on how to get involved.

Pilgrimage itinerary :

Wednesday 22nd May - 12noon - 4pm - Warland/Walsden-

(1 mile) Rochdale Canal Towpath, from Warland Swing Bridge no. 41 to Copperas Bridge no. 32.

Thursday 23rd May - 12noon - 4pm - Walsden/Todmorden

(2 miles) Rochdale Canal Towpath, Copperas Bridge no. 32 to Bridge no. 36 (end of Haugh Rd)

Friday 24th May - 12noon - 4pm - Todmorden/Eastwood/Hebden

(3miles) Rochdale Canal Towpath, Bridge no. 36 (end of Haugh Rd) to Bridge no. 18 (Hebble End, near Co-op)

Saturday 25th May - 12noon - 4pm - Hebden Bridge/Mytholmroyd/Luddenden Foot/Sowerby Bridge

(4 miles) Bridge no. 18 (Hebble End, near Co-op) to Sowerby Long Bridge no. 2 (Hollins Mill Lane)

Sunday 26th May - 12noon - 4pm - Sowerby Bridge/Copley

(3 miles) Sowerby Long Bridge no. 2 (Hollins Mill Lane) to Salter Hebble Bottom Basin Visitor Moorings

Monday 27th May - 12 noon- 4pm - Elland/Cromwell Bottom/ Brighouse

(3miles) Salter Hebble Bottom Basin Visitor Moorings to Bethal Street Carpark
