Carl Thomas

Banjo Player with Mr. Wilson’s Second Liners, arranging many of the band’s tunes.

Carl is a musician, arranger and educator, specialising in guitar, banjo and ukulele.

Graduating with BA (Hons) in Popular Music and Recording from University of Salford, Carl has carved out a distinct career that combines his skills in ICT and music.

As author of the 10 Uke of Carl tuition resources for beginner, intermediate and advanced musicians, Carl’s staged and recreational tutorials have gained considerable online audiences. Harnessing the power of an earworm to benefit his students, Carl introduces classic, catchy tunes and retro themes. This effortlessly encourages would-be uke players to learn rudimentary chords and strumming patterns in the easiest, most fun way.

He is a go-to advocate for ukulele, demonstrating its benefits to education professionals at Federation of Music Services Music Conference and Calderdale Head Teachers’ Conference. Carl has also demonstrated and guest tutored at The Grand Northern Uke Festival, Square Chapel Halifax and Manchester’s prestigious Bridgewater Hall.

Carl has over 10 years of classroom, small group and one-to-one teaching experience, delivering music tuition to KS1 to KS4 and adult learners across his local area of Calderdale.
